The Sunday Breakfast Mission is a homeless shelter in inner-city Wilmington that believes that if you provide for one's physical needs without dealing with their spiritual needs, you haven't really helped. Since 1893, the SBM has been touching lives and helping people. In 2011, a new women's & children's shelter is opening, providing even more opportunities to share the Gospel and change the lives of the people of Wilmington.
Weekly, there are often people from Faith Church that go and help serve meals to those that lean on the Sunday Breakfast Mission for help in meeting their most basic needs. With the new women/children shelter opening, the need is even that much greater. If you are interested in getting involved, you can contact Jill Goldner at the Sunday Breakfast Mission to sign up (302-652-8314). If you are interested, but aren't sure what it is like, you can talk to Faith Church member Rachel McSwain who is a regular volunteer at the mission (if you don't know her, you can contact the church office to get a message to her).
Monthly, members of our Praise Team and others in the congregation lead a worship service for the men at the Sunday Breakfast Mission. Each night, the residents there are led in worship by different churches, organization, groups, or individuals. On the first Thursday of each month, Faith Church gets the privilege of leading the men in worship to our God and King. This group can always use more help in loading, setting up, and unloading equipment and they would appreciate your prayers as they share the Good News with the men each month. Additionally, the women/children shelter will also have nightly worship services and they are in need of separate groups to lead worship. The team's prayer is simple: That God be seen and heard through their humble efforts and that lives be changed by the power of Christ. If you are interested in helping, you can contact Brent De Leo or Dave Booze.
