PRAYER

Today's culture tells us that we don't need faith, yet we long for the mystical, purposeful, and eternal.  Today's culture tells us that we can solve our own problems, yet we've tried and things never turn out the way we plan.  We long for a relationship with the Infinite, All-Knowing God - prayer is the answer.

This, then, is how you should pray:

'Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.'

For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins. - Matthew 6:9-15 (NIV)

Ways You Can Pray
If you are looking for ways you can pray, here are some:

  • Pray that God would open your heart and allow Him to take control of even more of your life, so that you can rest from the struggle of trying to do it by yourself.
  • Pray that the Good News of Jesus Christ would be proclaimed through our church, out to our community, our country, and the world.  Pray that this proclamation would start with you.
  • Pray for the missionaries and organizations that take the name of Jesus to the lost and that God will help you find the missionary within you to do the same.
  • Pray for the financial and spiritual health of Faith Presbyterian Church and other Bible-believing churches in our region, our country, and around the world.  Pray that God would teach you to give sacrificially as the widow did in Mark 12.
  • Pray for the sick, needy, and elderly among us; that God would grant them peace and hope and that God would provide you the means and the encouragement to reach out and help your fellow neighbors.
