Once a month, on the first Thursday, a team from Faith Church goes to the Sunday Breakfast Mission homeless shelter to lead a worship service to our Lord and Savior. LEADERSHIP ANNOUNCEMENT

On February 12th, during the morning worship service, Sr. Pastor Jim Brown announced to the congregation his intention to retire from his current position, effective 6/30/12.  After prayerfully considering where God was leading him, he approached the session (ordained church leaders) and the following are the key points of the announcement:

  • Effective on June 30, Pastor Brown will step down from the role of Senior Pastor, an office he has held since 1987 (he was Associate Pastor at Faith for 2 years prior to having been elected Senior Pastor).
  • Pastor Brown has been called by the Session to serve as half-time Assistant Pastor beginning July 1.  In this role, he will assist in providing pastoral care, do facility management, and whatever other duties the Senior Pastor and Session ask him to do.

  • A Congregational Meeting for members of Faith Presbyterian Church was held on Sunday, February 19, immediately following the worship service in which the congregation: 1) accepted Pastor Brown's retirement as Senior Pastor (Pastors resign to the body that calls them), and 2) elected a “Pulpit Committee” of 15 members charged with recommending a candidate for the role of Senior Pastor.

  • Kevin Koslowsky, the current Associate Pastor at Faith, has expressed deep interest in the position of Sr. Pastor and feels called to continue his ministry with Faith Church in this capacity.  The Pulpit Committee has been asked to investigate this call and consider Kevin for this position.  The congregation will be asked to vote on whomever the Pulpit Committee recommends, as congregations vote for the Sr. Pastor position in the presbyterian form of church government.

UPDATE:  The Faith Church congregation pulpit committee has nominated Rev. Kevin Koslowsky to be the new Sr. Pastor.  The congregational meeting and vote will take place on June 3rd.  See details here.

Pastor Brown has created a detailed document that talks about the details and mechanics behind this transition and answers some frequent questions that many are asking.  Download it here.

Pastor Brown's sermon on Sunday (2/12/12) provided a Biblical context for leadership succession and God's sovereign plan in building His church and providing for His people.  We suggest that you listen to this sermon and hear Pastor Brown's announcement in context.  You can also download this sermon or subscribe to our podcast to get it - visit our multimedia center (Adobe Flash is required to play audio, but you can download or subscribe from a mobile device).
