Thank you for visiting Faith Presbyterian Church’s website. I appreciate
this opportunity to tell you why I think Faith is worthy of your serious
investigation if you are searching for a church home.
The Faith congregation is warm, friendly and accepting. Though persons can
come, worship God, and not feel pressured to become “family”, the people of
Faith are extremely open and very willing to build personal relationships with
all who desire them. Faith congregants take seriously Jesus’ command for
believers “to love one another” and they show their love by sharing in each
other’s joys and by providing whatever is needed during times of sorrow,
suffering or scarcity. I am told repeatedly by members who move from the
area that when it comes to building relationships and truly caring for people,
“no church does this better than Faith.”
Two other readily noticeable characteristics of Faith Presbyterian are the
emphasis placed on worship and the teaching of the Bible. We at Faith are
convinced that the most significant activity in which humans can engage is the
worship of God. Because we believe this, much thought, energy and prayer
are devoted to the design of worship services and to the leading of
them. In all worship services, Bible school classes, youth programs
and adult small groups, the Bible is explained and applied to the life issues
that people of today face. While conscious effort is made to give an
understanding of Scripture to those who have very little of that, we have been
told that Faith can also be “like a graduate school of Christianity.”
Faith is a great place for people who desire to get to know the Scriptures
well. The systematic teaching of the Bible to children and adults is one
of our core values, because we believe the Bible to be God’s message given to
men and women so that in it they can find forgiveness from their sins and have
a relationship with Him now and forever.
While the Faith family has many other characteristics that make it a truly
great church, the last I will mention here is the congregation’s commitment to
help those outside the walls of the church. Faith members take the
message that “Jesus gives eternal life to all who trust him as Savior and Lord”
to the neighborhoods of North Wilmington, to the inner city, to our state’s
correctional facilities, and through their personal participation in mission
projects, to other states and to the world. Faith people also give
generously to grow Christ’s church in this country and the world.
As a student of churches and church life, I can say with integrity that Faith
Presbyterian Church is a great church. We would love for you to visit
with us and to investigate carefully and fully the possibility of this church
becoming yours.
Sincerely,
Jim Brown
Senior Minister
